5th Day of Christmas

The 5th Day of Christmas celebrates the Feast of St. Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury and Patron of Priests in the 12th Century.  The Feast is held on December 29th.

The 5th Day of Christmas at McMullen House is depicted by five golden rings in the Dining Room.  These rings symbolize the first five books of the Old Testament.

The Feast of St. Thomas Becket is held on December 29th, the same day he was killed in Canterbury after an argument with King Henry II.  The site of the assassination at Canterbury Cathedral became a place for pilgrimage and inspiration for the “Canterbury Tales.”1
